Messonghi Beach, Corfu

Messonghi is a small peaceful resort situated about 1Km. south of the resort of Moraitika. It is quiet and peaceful with the majority of facilities all within 100mtrs. of the beach. The terrain is relatively flat with no steep hills to climb on those hot summer days.

Messonghi is a small village, located 21 km east of Corfu town and 1 km from Moraitika resort. The scenic and peaceful Messonghi is one of the oldest fishing villages in Corfu. It has large units which offer high standard services and also plenty of houses, apartments, rooms and other accommodation.

Messonghi beach is always filled with people. The beautiful view of olive trees and mountains gives you the perfect background for an ideal & dreamy holiday. There is a small river flowing on the left of the beach, which runs into the sea, where the locals tie their small fishing boats. On the right side of the beach, there is a picturesque green hill. The river is actually the borderline between Messonghi and Moraitika.

The beach is protected from strong winds, with shallow waters. The sea is deepening slowly and gradually so it’s quite safe for swimming which makes the beach ideal for families with kids. Far from the main road, the beach is organized and you can find snack bars, taverns, fish restaurants, coffee shops and areas suitable for children. For those who want something more adventurous, Messonghi beach offers a large variety of water sports and equipment for beginners and more experienced fans. You can rent pedalos, deck-chairs, banana boat or ringos to enjoy your time at the beach. Boats for rental are also available. You can find sun loungers, umbrellas for hire, showers and changing rooms as well which are offered on the shore.

Don’t forget to take a walk along the grassy banks of the river. There is a small platform 30 meters long that offers you the chance to go closer to it with small boats. It’s also good mentioning the camping of Messonghi which you can find along the banks of the river and has been there since the 1950s.
