Lefkimmi is considered to be the major town in the south, located about 40 kilometers away from Corfu’s town center.
You can enjoy traditional dishes or drinks in restaurants and taverns along the canal, which is the area’s main attraction. Moreover, you can wander through the narrow streets, admire old mansions and the architecture of old churches.
You can still visit the small harbor of Alykes (meaning salt pan in Greek), where nowadays is a wetland for several bird species.
Locals in Lefkimmi still organize celebrations like dance festivals and other traditional ones, taking place mostly during the summer months.
