Folklore Museum of Sinarades “Nikos Paktitis”, Corfu

The Folklore Museum of Sinarades, located about 10 kilometers southwest of Corfu Town, offers a deep dive into the island’s rich cultural heritage. Established in 1982 by the Historical-Folklore Society of Corfu, the museum was named in honor of its founding member, Nikos Paktitis, who dedicated his efforts to preserving and promoting local folk culture.

Housed in a beautifully renovated two-story building in the village of Sinarades, the museum provides an immersive experience into the daily life and traditions of Corfu’s past. The exhibits cover the period from 1860 to 1960, showcasing a diverse array of artifacts that depict the island’s historical lifestyle.

Visitors can explore an extensive permanent collection, which includes traditional furniture from the era, homemade kitchen equipment, musical instruments, and various household tools. These items offer a tangible connection to the past, allowing you to appreciate the craftsmanship and daily routines of the island’s former inhabitants.

The Folklore Museum of Sinarades not only highlights the island’s traditional way of life but also serves as a testament to the dedicated efforts of those who strive to keep Corfu’s cultural heritage alive.
